Japan opens its 98th National Airport

This is a fun one dropping in.

Japan has opened up another airport - Ibaraki  Airport - about 50 miles from Central Tokyo (so... no worse than Narita then)

Of course it's a vastly filled service - with just one service a day schedule from it.  The aim for it is to expand into a LCC Airport.

Airports always start off a bit small. Low landing fees and reduced costs might drive a few more carriers there.
