ZH: Shenzhen Airlines to Join Star Alliance

After the loss of one of it's partners in China (Shanghai Airlines), it seems Star Alliance is trying again with a new partner - Shenzhen Airlines.

The airline has been accepted as a future member of Star, and is due to join within the next 24 months.

Shenzhen Airlines will provide more connectivity to Southern China, along with it's 85% majority owner Air China.

Shenzhen Airlines operate a narrow body fleet of Airbus A319's, A320's, and various Boeing 737's, connecting 58 Chinese Domestic airports and 9 international destinations.

The integration process has begun, with a lot of work to do before they are formally admitted into the alliance.

This will add more destinations and gain size in a place where Star has been lacking compared to it's competitors recently. What price that growth... is of course another question entirely....
