QF: A380's to return to LA!

For those of you want your A380 fix from LA, you can now get it from the 16th January.

The A380 will operate from Melbourne to Los Angeles on 16 January, Sydney - Los Angeles route will recommence with the equipment later this month.

A Qantas spokesperson says:

"After extensive engineering analysis and close consultation with Rolls-Royce, Airbus and the European and Australian regulators, Qantas, Rolls-Royce and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority are now satisfied that it is appropriate for Qantas to resume A380 flying on the Los Angeles-Australia routes".

As we all know the Qantas A380's with Rolls Royce engines have been in the spotlight after the incident in Singapore last year.

Los Angeles services were delayed due to the requirement to use full thrust on takeoff, which was an issue during the investigation. Apparently, this is no longer the case according to Qantas' CEO, Alan Joyce

For the remainder of January, it will attempt to operate up to 14 A380 operated services a week, connecting:

• Melbourne-Singapore-London
• Sydney-Los Angeles
• Sydney-Singapore-London

Allocations for aircraft will vary, so be careful if you are flying just to get the A380 - or avoid it. In addition, frequencies will improve as more planes join the fleet and the others are repaired.
